BUD2002	불교교리사 History of Buddhist Doctrines 불교가 성립된 이후 시대의 변천에 따라 전개된 교리체계를 초기불교, 부파불교, 대승불교로 나누어 고찰하고 나아가 궁극적으로는 대승보살사상으로 귀착되는 것을 고찰한다. Study of developmental process of Indian Buddhism : Fundamental Buddhism, H nay na Buddhism, Mah y na Buddhism.
BUD2003	인도불교사 History of Indian Buddhism 불교의 흥기에서부터 회교도의 침입으로 인도에서 자취를 감출 때까지의 인도불교 전반을 역사적으로 개관하여, 불교의 뿌리요 원류인 인도불교를 쉽고 정확하게 이해하도록 하는 데에 중점을 둔다. The origin, development, and decline of indian Buddhism ; historical outline of general Indian Buddhism : to focus on easily and exactly understanding of Indian Buddhism that is origin of Buddhism.
BUD2004	경전해석학 Reading of Buddhist Scriptures 대승경론에 담겨 있는 경전해석을 재고하고 중국이나 한국에서 찬술된 주석서에서 시도된 경전 해석법을 살핌으로써 불교경전에 담긴 의미를 현대적으로 해석해본다. This subject analyses the Sutra interpretation in Mahayana works, researches the Sutra interpretation that try in the Chinese and the Korean Commentary works, and interpret the meanings modernly.
BUD2005	불교원전강독 Reading in Buddhist Original Texts 원시, 부파, 대승의 불교 중요교설을 담고 있는 범어, 팔리어, 서장어, 한문, 영어 등의 불교원전을 직접 읽어 음미함으로써, 불교의 본질 내용과 그 다양한 전개양상 등을 스스로 정확히 파악할 수 있는 능력을 배양한다. 특히 불전 영어에 비중을 둔다. Various kinds of Buddhist texts written in Sanskrit, Pali, and Tibetan.
BUD2006	불교한문 Buddhist Classical Chinese 이 과목은 한역경전연구의 기틀을 마련하기 위해 불교한문의 구조와 의미를 분석하고 그 의미들을 이해하고자 한다. This course aims at making the improvement of students’s reading ability of students. It selects Buddhist texts written in Classical Chinese and reads together with students, explaining grammar and syntax.
BUD2007	종교학 Religiology 종교학의 발달과정과 기본요소 및 연구방법을 학습시키고, 다양한 종교현상을 유형별(교리 경험 제의 윤리 사회 문화적인 유형별)로 고찰하여 종교문화에 대한 보편적인 조망과 인식을 갖도록 한다. Study of the conception, the origin, the development, and the phenomenon of religion.
BUD2008	아비달마불교 Abhidharma Buddhism 아비달마는 불교학의 토대이다. 이 과목에서는 아가마에서 아비달마에로의 발전단계를 알아보고 법의 체계 물질과 마음 선과 악 수행도등 아비달마 교학에서 다루는 주요 문제들을 공부한다. This course deals with Abhidharma Buddhism, especially the Sarv stiv da school. The thoughts of this school is of fundamental importance in Buddhist studies. The course deals with such questions as how the system of the Sarv stiv da school originated. It further focuses upon its ideas like dharma and karma,
BUD2009	대승불교 Mahayana Buddhism 대승불교성립에 대한 현 학계의 중요학설을 소개 비판하고 대승경전 전반을 간결하게 소개한다. 그리고 대승불교의 근간이 되는 초기대승불교(반야 법화 화엄 정토)의 교리체계를 경전에 입각해서 자세히 살펴본다. The origin, the ideal background, and the basic doctrines of Mah y na Buddhism.
BUD2010	반야철학 Philosophy of Prajn 이 과목은 반야의 본질, 반야를 얻는 과정과 방법 등을 다룬다. 이를 연구하면서 반야경을 비롯한 대승경전과 논서들을 읽는다. This subject is concerned with the essence of prajn , the process and method of gaining prajn . While studying it, we read the scriptures and treatises of Mah y na Buddhism including Prajn S tra.
BUD2011	한국불교사 History of Korea Buddhism 한국불교사를 크게 두 가지로 분류할 때 전반부는 불교가 처음 전래된 삼국시대로부터 통일신라시대이고, 후반부는 고려 및 조선시대의 불교라 할 수 있다. 전반부에서는 불교의 전래와 수용을 역사적으로 고찰하고 그 사상을 시대를 중심으로 고찰해 볼 것이며, 후반부에서는 사료에 입각한 객관적이고 체계적인 정리에 의해 민족불교의 역사적 현상을 이해하는데 중점을 두어 학습하도록 하겠다. Historical development of early Korean Buddhism specially with reference to its aspects and characteristics in the process of development.
BUD2012	불교와철학 Buddhism and Philosophy 사유의 근본문제들에 대하여 동서철학과 불교사상의 입장들을 비교 검토함으로써 현대적 의미에서 불교철학을 건립한다. We investigate the common problems of Buddhism and philosophy, e.g. the principles of human nature, the harmony of human beings & natural world, and the desirable criterion of the good and bad. Thereby do we search a contemporary interpretation of Buddhist thoughts.
BUD4001	중관철학 Philosophy of Madhyamika 이 과목은 용수의 『중론』을 비롯한 논서들이 성립하게 된 사상적 배경, 이 논서들이 이후의 중관학파와 유식학파에 미친 영향, 용수의 『중론』과 성천의 『사백론』을 주석해 나간 역사, 유식불교를 수용한 후기중관학파의 사상, 후기중관학파와 티베트불교의 관계를 다룬다. This subject is concerned with the ideological background N g rjuna’s treatises such as 『Madhyamakak rika』 are written, their influence on the later Mah y na Buddhism including Madhyamika and Yogac ra school, the history of the commentaries on N g rjuna’s 『Madyamakak rik 』 and ryadeva’s 『Catu ataka』 , the thought of the later Madhyamika school that accepted the Yogac ra Buddhism, the relation between the later Madhyamika school and Tibetan Buddhism.
BUD4002	유식학 Yog cara Buddhism 유식학은 대승불교의 정수이다. 이 과목에서는 관련문헌을 통해서 유식학의 역사와 사상을 알아본다. 특히 핵심사상이라 할 수 있는 식의 전변 삼성설 유식성을 공부한다. 더불어 현대학계에서 유식학이 가지는 의의도 조명한다. This course deals with Yog c ravijn nav da which is a distinct and important school of Mah y na Buddhism. First of all, the course introduces the philosophical development of the ideas of Yog c ra Buddhism. It focuses upon investigating its main thoughts such as the store-consciousness and the triple nature of reality.
BUD4003	한국불교철학 Korean Buddhist Philosophy 우리 한민족이 불교를 받아들인 이후부터 오늘에 이르기까지 우리의 것으로 소화하고 발전 전개시킨 불교철학의 흐름을 전반적으로 파악하고, 각 시대별 특징과 철학적 성격을 체계 있게 개관함으로써 한국불교철학을 바르게 이해하도록 한다. Study of the flow of Buddhist thoughts which have been mixed into Korean society: systematically reviewing characteristics of each age and ideological changes.
BUD4004	중국불교사 History of Chinese Buddhism 중국에 불교가 전래 수용 발전한 역사 전반을 학습하되, 특히 이곳에서 독특하게 수립 발전한 대승 교학의 특징이나 학파 종파의 성립 전개 양상을 개관하고, 아울러 불교가 이곳의 정치 경제 사회 문화전반에 끼친 영향 등도 다룬다. Study of the conception, the origin, the development, and the phenomenon of religion.
BUD4005	불교생태학 Buddhist Ecology 불교와 생태학이 공유하는 관점인 상호의존성과 비실체성 등을 탐구함으로써 불교와 과학의 접점을 모색하고 불교를 현대적으로 해석한다. We research into the structure and principles of eco-system in the viewpoint of Buddhist conceptions, e. g. the interdependence – emptiness – interrespect. In terms of this research do we contribute to the Buddhist solution of the environmental crisis in the modern society.
BUD4006	화엄학 Hua-Yen Studies 화엄경의 내용을 개관하고 인도 중국 한국의 화엄사상을 고찰하며, 법계연기, 화엄연기 등 일승화엄교학의 핵심교리를 해설하여 화엄사상을 이해하게 한다. Establishment, improvement, the special doctrines and practices of Avata saka thoughts.
BUD4007	밀교 Esoteric Buddhism 대승불교로서의 밀교와 현교의 차이점, 밀교 성립의 역사적 교학적 배경, 그리고 즉신성불 만다라의 철학 삼밀수행법 오상성신관 등, 그 중심사상과 교학은 물론 서역, 중국, 일본, 인도 등의 밀교사상을 강의한다. Formation, development, and particular thoughts of Esoteric Buddhism.
BUD4008	천태학 Tien-Tai Buddhism 대승불교사상의 중요한 흐름인 법화사상이 중국에 이르러 조직 체계화된 천태교학의 역사와 교학이론 및 실천체계를 검토 이해시킨다. Study of the formation, development, the particular theories and practices of Tien-tai thoughts.
BUD4009	불교윤리학 Buddhist Ethics 불교윤리학은 불교의 윤리사상이 일반윤리사상과 다른 독특한 특징은 무엇이며, 그것이 어떠한 불교의 근본교리에 근거를 두고 있는가, 또한 구체적인 불교윤리의 실천덕목은 어떠한 것들이 있나하는 것을 알아본다. Review of the codes from the viewpoints of the religious bodies and the Buddhism performing organizations; comparison with the current codes.
BUD4010	불교사회경제론 Social and Economic Thoughts of Buddhism 불교의 근본교리와 사상을 정치 사회 경제적 실천의 논리로서 재조명하고, 주요 관련 경전의 내용을 음미하여 현대사회의 제반 문제에 대한 불교적 대응 방안을 모색한다. Study of Buddhist sociology and economy : its formations, developments, and influences on societies.
BUD4011	세계 종교사 History of World Religions 세계 여러 민족의 삶과 문화에 지대한 영향을 미쳐온 다양한 종교 전통들의 기원과 성장 및 전개과정 등, 그 역사적 흐름을 객관적 입장에서 살펴본다. Objective study of world religions: their origins, developments, and histories.
BUD4012	전법교화론 Propagation of Buddhism 불교수행에 있어서 포교의 의의와 목적을 고찰하고 포교의 구체적 방법을 탐구하여 전법도생의 막중한 임무를 수행하는 데 필요한 선방편을 학습한다. Study of methodology of propagating Buddhism in association with practices: its meaning and purpose.
